On 21 February 2018 the Ministry of Transport established the National Shift2Rail Platform, which will be a professional advisory and working body of the Minister of Transport for research and development in the railway sector. The Platform will also act as a coordination group for the involvement of the Czech Republic in the joint undertaking Shift2Rail. Barbora Lubojacká, the CIO of the AWT Group, has been named to the Platform for the organization ŽESNAD.CZ.

“The main task of the Platform is to promote the use and implementation of the results of a research and development project carried out within the Shift2Rail Joint Undertaking and other results of the research and development project for strengthening the competitiveness of the Czech railway industry, throughout the entire industry in the Czech Republic. The Platform will provide coordination and awareness of Czech companies on activities related to the growth of rail transport in the Czech Republic through research and development activities. These tasks are still not covered in the Czech Republic by any authority or group,” says the Ministry of Transport.

Based on the decision of the Board, Barbora Lubojacká, the IT Director of the AWT Group, which has long been involved in the issues of interoperability and Shift2Rail and not only in Parliament, was named to this body for ŽESNAD.CZ.

“We would like to strive for and see to it that all activities supported in the field of research and development have specific and quantified results for carriers, who are the only ones capable of attracting new customers to the railways through innovative and cost-friendly products and therefore boost the competitiveness of rail versus other forms of transport,” says Barbora Lubojacká.

The aim of the ŽESNAD.CZ professional association is to become a partner for public authorities in the rail freight sector, including providing expert opposition, as well as an active champion for the legitimate demands of carriers in the development of rail freight transport. The Association also strongly encourages a level playing field for the operation of all transport routes. A founding member of the association is Advanced World Transport (AWT).
