PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL, an international rail and intermodal carrier that is part of the PKP CARGO Group – a leading European logistics operator – undertakes to make further essential investments. PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL will install the ETCS mobile safety system in 29 Type 753.7 locomotives, also referred to as „brejlovec“. The investment project will be co-financed by the European Union under the Operational Programme Transport.

The subject of the order is a comprehensive delivery and installation of the mobile part of a Level 2 ETCS safety system, which is to comply with the Baseline 3 requirements for Type 753.7 railroad traction vehicles. The basic scope of the public procurement contract was the installation of such equipment in up to 11 locomotives, with an option right to include the possibility of installing it in up to 18 further ones. The total value of the order is CZK 278 million for all 29 locomotives.

The CZ LOKO company, which was selected by PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL in a public tender, will deliver the ETCS systems for the first 11 locomotives based on a contract that has already been signed.

„The modernisation of the railroad fleet is a key part of the PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL Group’s strategy to ensure we constantly stay one step ahead of our competitors and enable us to offer our clients the best transport and logistics services in the rail freight market. The installation of the ETCS safety devices in 29 Type 753.7 locomotives is another significant investment in our fleet“, said Maciej Walczyk, Chairman of Board of Directors of PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL.

PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL has already marked all locomotives and wagons with its name and logo as part of the entire Group’s rebranding process in 2019. All orange-grey and yellow-blue locomotives are also being repainted blue-green while the wagons are being painted blue – i.e. the corporate colours of the parent PKP CARGO Group.

„We consider the complete rebranding and newly-painted railroad fleet bearing our corporate colours to be an important part of our visual identity, which is to better characterise PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL Group’s business activity on the European market and closely associate it with the PKP CARGO Group,“ said Maciej Walczyk.
