  • 15. 6. 2020

On 12 June 2020, the Slovak company AWT Rail SK a.s. was renamed to PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL SK a.s. The rebranding of the company, consisting of the new name, the logo and corporate colors of the parent company PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL a.s., will strongly express its connection to the PKP CARGO Group and better announce its presence on international markets. Rebranding within the PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL Group has been going on since 2 October 2019, when the parent company Advanced World Transport a.s. (AWT) was renamed to PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL a.s.

Railway transport is the core service of the PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL Group and nearly 70 years of experience has turned PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL into a major railway operator with extensive facilities for providing related services.

The Group is one of the leading railway carriers in Europe and a member of the PKP CARGO Group, itself a leading logistics operator in the EU. In the Czech Republic, the PKP CARGO Group is number two among rail freight carriers with a market share of approximately 10%. It provides national and international transport using single-purpose trains and integrated groups of wagons. It collaborates with carriers in Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Germany, Austria, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Croatia. It operates rail transport in Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia through its subsidiaries PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL HU, PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL SK and Primol-Rail.

“The change of name and rebranding of PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL SK is another step in fulfilling our strategy and integrating our subsidiaries within the entire PKP CARGO Group. The new single name for all the companies in the group – PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL – is intended to better announce the presence of these companies on the international market and their close connection to the parent company PKP CARGO. I believe this change will have a positive effect on the growth of our business, not only in Slovakia, but throughout Europe,” says Maciej Walczyk, Chairman of the Board of PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL a.s.
